Proven Leadership with a Balanced Approach

For the last decade, I have dedicated myself to public service in local government.  I served on the Marina City Council as both a  Councilmember and three-term Mayor and  currently serve as your Monterey County Supervisor in the 4th District. The priorities that  I

had for Marina are the same priorities I have for all of Monterey County; Economy, Education, Environment and Public Safety.  Having served for over 26 years in the U.S. Army, commanding the Presidio of Monterey and Fort Ord, overseeing the environmental cleanup of Fort Ord and serving in local government for over a decade, I believe that I have the vision, ability and leadership skills necessary to serve as your Supervisor.  I am proud of my record and humbly ask for your support.

Hon. Janet Barnes

Salinas City Council, District 3

“The best choice for Supervisor representing South Salinas is Ila Mettee-McCutchon.  Having served on regional boards and committees with Ila, I am confident that she knows the priorities of South Salinas residents.  She will be an excellent representative for the whole district.”

“Ila is a consensus builder who has a strong record of job creation and creating economic opportunities.  She listens to all sides of an issue and will be a great Supervisor for us in Seaside.  I am proud to give Ila my full support and endorsement.”

Hon. Bruce McPherson

In endorsing Mettee-McCutchon, the Herald said...

Mettee-McCutchon is “the better choice” and that Mettee-McCutchon’s “experience and record of accomplishment exceeds Parker’s by no small measure.”  (5/6/08)

Ila Mettee-McCutchon is endorsed by both:

“We support her because she has more experience managing a budget than Parker, something always crucial but perhaps even more so now because of the economic downturn and pending state budget cuts.”

Law enforcement groups, including the Monterey County Deputy Sheriffs Association, support Mettee-McCutchon, too. She puts the right emphasis on crime prevention through "no-nonsense suppression" by more officers on the streets, a joint law enforcement task force and getting more deputy district attorneys trained to prosecute gang crimes, yet she believes in intervention, too.

“In what may be an unprecedented show of support, nine mayors back her, giving her the best chance of helping the county partner with its cities.” (5/30/08)
